2 Quick Tips For Choosing Sunglasses For Your Face Shape

Choosing the right sunglasses shape can be daunting, especially if you don't know which lens shapes would actually enhance your face. There's no mistaking it: taking the time to get this right will ensure not only a more comfortable fit, but also a more proportionate look.

Don't miss the chance to look your best: read these 2 quick tips for choosing the right sunglasses for your face shape. By the end of this article, you'll know exactly what shape category your face is, and which frame shapes will look best on you!

Tip #1 - Determine Your Face Shape

Before you can choose the best frame for your face, you have to determine what your actual face shape is. Here are the common face shapes:

Round: characterized by a round chin and full cheeks, a round face shape typically has a width and length that are roughly the same. 👇

Oval: considered the ideal face shape, an oval face shape is characterized by a forehead that is slightly wider than the chin, and high cheekbones.

Square: characterized by a strong jawline and a forehead, cheekbones, and jaw that are roughly the same width.

Heart: characterized by a wide forehead and cheekbones, a heart-shaped face tapers to a narrow chin.

Long: characterized by a face that is longer than it is wide, with a narrow forehead, cheekbones, and jaw.

Diamond: characterized by a narrow forehead and jaw, with cheekbones being the widest part of the face.

It is important to note that some face shapes may have characteristics of more than one shape and some people may have a face shape that doesn't fit in any of these categories exactly.

Tip #2 - Know Which Shapes To Try, And Which To Avoid

Round faces: To make a round face appear longer and thinner, look for frames that have a strong vertical line, such as a cat-eye or rectangular shape. Avoid round frames as they tend to make a round face look rounder.

Oval faces: People with oval face shape can pull off any frame shape, so they have a lot of options. However, oversized frames or frames that are wider than the widest part of the face are not recommended, as they can imbalance the proportions of an oval face.

Square faces: To soften the angles of a square face, look for frames with rounded edges, such as oval or round frames. Avoid frames with strong angles, as they can make a square face appear even more angular.

Heart faces: To balance out the proportions of a heart-shaped face, look for frames that are wider at the bottom, such as cat-eye or semi-rimless frames. Avoid small frames or frames that are too narrow, as they can make a heart-shaped face appear top-heavy.

Long faces: To make a long face appear shorter, look for frames that have a strong horizontal line, such as a clubmaster or browline frame. Avoid frames that are too narrow or have a strong vertical line, as they can make a long face appear even longer.

Diamond faces: To draw attention to the eyes and soften the cheekbones, look for frames that are wider at the top, such as cat-eye or semi-rimless frames. Avoid frames that are too narrow or too wide, as they can make a diamond-shaped face appear imbalanced.

It is essential to keep in mind that these are general recommendations and that ultimately the most important thing is to choose the frame shape that you feel most comfortable and confident wearing!
